My Business

Filbert Art Gallery was launched on April 14th 2019 on the Tamil new year day. After 3 years of learning fine art and conducting art exhibitions in Chennai, it was finally time to open a permanent art gallery to display and sell my artworks throughout the year.

I get a wide range of customers and different art requirements. Even corporate orders where under taken and successfully delivered. Some of my biggest corporate clients are Ford Motors, EDUVISION LLT, CREA's Publications, Odyssey.

People contact me for customized Pencil portraits to gift their loved ones, and I still feel the same happiness after every order has been done and delivered. The gallery is currently used to display my own artworks, and it may widen the space for other artists in the future.

My Story

Art has always been around me throughout my childhood as I grew up. Being born in Chennai, India; there's a thing about Engineering, and I had to pursue some major under Engineering. But art & crafts were my all time favorite thing to do in my school days. In fact, my ambition was to become either an Artist or an Astronomer. I gave a comeback to art after I completed my Engineering in 2016, and as I also took up a Diploma in Photography course at the same time. It all began with drawing comic sketches of cartoon characters, and doing photo shoots at my Photography class. And then I slowly started learning to draw using white charcoal, and then acrylic paintings, and so on.

Being a self-taught artist, my methods and techniques are mostly out of trial and error, and experimentation based. Since it was just a hobby, I never planned to attend art classes or take up a Fine art course in a college; it was pure fun and a most needed activity to keep my creative skills in shape. I don't categorize my style of art into one particular genre, cos it's always about experimenting different art styles and genres. Yet, I'd try something new only if I really want to and not cos of compulsion.

It never occurred to me that I have to take up art as my career, until I stumbled upon an opportunity to showcase my white charcoal sketches in another artist's exhibition. From then on, I was sure art is gonna stay with me til the end. My very first big day in my art journey was when my 5th grade English Teacher invited me to her School's Fine art club as a Guest speaker, and it was on that day my signature became an autograph to those students. I still cherish that moment and will continue to.

Initially my focus were on conducting solo art exhibitions, then I had the compulsion to open my own art gallery. I began designing and setting up the gallery in 2018, and had it launched as Filbert Art Gallery in 2019, by my old school Principal.

As of now, I work with Pencil portraits, Acrylic paintings, Watercolor paintings, Pastel & white charcoal art, Polymer clay figurines, Model making & concept art for corporate companies, Story board sketching for movies, Book illustrations, and a little bit of wall painting.

I always believe life is meant for exploring and learning all that we wish for, hence I also practice musical instruments like guitar, keyboard and harmonica; write poems at times, read a lot of vintage novels, etc. And I've still got room for more art mediums that I can put hands on, so the exploration never ends.
